In the world, we live in today, driving feels like a right of passage into adulthood; however, it's very rarely spoken about how dyslexia can effect your whole driving experience. Below are helpful tips and links to help you achieve your driving goals!
Finding the right driving instructor is crucial in your driving journey, with or without a learning disability! Something all people with dyslexia don't realise until it's too late is that declaring dyslexia to your instructor can change how they teach you to drive!
Dyslexics may struggle to understand the verbal directions from left to right and have every right to have L & R physically displayed in their car if needed (even for your test!). It will also change how your driving instructor communicates instructions to you. It is not the dyslexic's job to tell the driving instructor what will help them. It is the driving instructor's responsibility, so it's essential to call them first and talk to them about what they can do before booking any lessons.

The theory test is the first hurdle anyone faces before they start their driving journey. But did you know that when booking your theory test, you can declare your dyslexia?
Yes, there are loads of different things out there to help a dyslexic pass the theory test, and it is essential to look through what is there to help before you take the test.

The most significant step any learner driver will take towards success is, without a doubt, their driving test! If you have followed all of the above, you should know the drill by now, but just in case, make.
Make sure when you are booking your driving test that you click the disabilities box and specify dyslexia, from there it will ask you if you have any specific need whilst doing the test, make sure you list out anything, no matter how silly it may sound (A good tip is to go through this with your driving instructor before submitting).
